Before becoming a charming Relais, Cuprena was a simple notion nurtured with love.
Our father’s love for this land suspended between nature and culture, smoothly crossed by the Arno river, led him to search for the right plot of land to buy, close to the fields where he had grown up as a child, for many years.
in the 1960s/70s when most people where leaving the countryside for the cities, also his family had to reluctantly leave this area and as an adult he tried to come back here for a long time. Upon discovering this magnificent property, just overlooking that river where he had fished and dived as a child, he initially thought of making it a family home. Then the concept of hospitality became a natural progression. Our journey to build a tourist accommodation, a charming Relais in Tuscany, in the most authentic part of this region stems from this concept and feelings. A location of peace that is able to relax and supply a sense of coziness. A haven well-suited to regenerate oneself.
After a long wait to restructure and plan while significantly investing in the sustainable side of the entire business, it was finally completed. It was so beautiful, but… how could this tiny hamlet be named? Cuprena…
Cuprena is an Etruscan name, deriving from Cupra, the great Mother Goddess of water and fertility. It is a name that protects an area whose hallmark is the positive energy of the earth. A word that on its own identifies a deep reverence for farming carried out by employing ancient methods taking into account the seasonal cycle. It is an organic and eco-friendly sustainable philosophy that brought about this setting where the simple things of the past, luxury and stylishness, gracefully meet.
The Cuprena Relais & Holiday Farm is a true fairy tale unfolded from the hands of men and in the hearts of those who know how to nurture a project until it becomes a tangible place. It is a captivating book to leaf through whose many pages are waiting to be written by you.
